For more academically challenging options, SHS offers Advanced Placement classes. Advanced Placement (AP) classes are college-level courses taught by a high school teacher. In these courses, students will take a national end-of-year examination to determine the type of credit that will transfer to colleges and universities. Students can earn anywhere from a 1 to 5. Typically, a score of 3 or higher grants students college credits. Universities, however, determine how they will grant credits to students.
Southridge High School offers the following Advanced Placement courses:
United States Government and Politics
United States History
Physics 1: Algebra-Based
SHS offers select classes for dual credit through three universities: Indiana University, Ivy Tech Community College, and the University of Southern Indiana. While taking the high school course, students may earn college credit while earning high school credit at the same time.
Ivy Tech Dual Credit
