EARLY LITERACY ASSESSMENTS |

Grades K-2 | Timing: Fall, Winter & Spring |
The Early Literacy Assessments are a series of assessments that measure foundational reading skills, determine instructional needs, and identify lagging skills in reading, including characteristics exhibited by dyslexia. These assessments satisfy the requirements dictated by the Indiana Senate Enrolled Act 217. |
I AM (Indiana's Alternate Measure) |

Grades 3-8 & 10 | Timing: Spring |
The I AM assessment is the state accountability assessment for students with significant cognitive disabilities. The assessment measures student achievement and growth in English/Language Arts, grades 3-8 and 10; Math, grades 3-8 and 10; Science, grades 4,6, and Biology; and Social Studies, grade 5. The measures are based on the Indiana Content Connectors, which are aligned to the Indiana Academic Standards. |
ILEARN (Indiana Learning Evaluation Assessment Readiness Network) |

Grades 3-8 & Biology | Timing: Spring |
ILEARN is a state accountability assessments for students in Indiana. This assessment measures student achievement and growth in English/Language Arts, grades 3-8; Math, grades 3-8; Science, grades 4, 6, and Biology; and Social Studies, grade 5. The measures are based on the Indiana Academic Standards. |
IREAD-3 (Indiana Reading Evaluation and Determination) |

Grade 3 | Timing: Spring |
IREAD-3 is a state assessment that measures foundational reading skills. This assessment satisfies the requirements dictated by the Indiana House Enrolled Act 1367. |
ISTEP+ |

Grade 12 (Seniors who need to fulfill graduation requirements) | Timing: Winter & Spring |
ISTEP+ is a state accountability assessment that measures student achievement in English/Language Arts and Math. This test also fulfills a graduation requirement for the class of 2022, which will be the last year of administration for the test. |
PSAT |

Grades 8-11 | Timing: Fall |
The PSAT is a state-mandated exam for grade 11; however, SWDCS also administers the test to grades 8-10. This test measures a student's college and career readiness based on their performance in Evidence-Based Reading and Writing as well as Math. The results are used to determine instructional needs for improved student achievement and growth. |
SAT |

Grade 11 | Timing: Spring |
The SAT is not only a college entrance exam used by many colleges and university but it is also the new high school state accountability assessment. This test measures a student's college and career readiness based on their performance in Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, Math, and Writing (writing is optional). The SAT, as a state accountability assessment, will be administered to the juniors beginning with the class of 2023. |
WIDA ACCESS |

Grades K-12, English Language Learner students | Timing: Winter |
WIDA ACCESS is a state assessment that measures a student's current level of English proficiency. This assessment is also used for accountability purposes regarding English Learner student achievement and growth. |
High School Assessments
ADVANCED PLACEMENT |

AP Enrolled Students | Timing: Spring |
Advanced Placement (AP) exams are administered to students enrolled in advanced placement courses. The exams measure how well a student has mastered the content or skills specific to the AP course. These exams also provide students the opportunity to test out of similar introductory courses in college. |
ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) |

Grades 11 & 12 | Timing: Winter & Spring |
The ASVAB measures a student's strengths and weaknesses in four domains: verbal, math, science and technical, and spatial. This test can also be used as a graduation requirement for specific graduation pathways. |

I-READY READING |

SWCDS has adopted i-Ready, which provides interim assessments that are administered three times a year to determine what students know and what they are ready to learn. The reading tests measure students' reading levels and identify reading needs. |
I-READY MATH |

SWCDS has adopted i-Ready, which provides interim assessments that are administered three times a year to determine what students know and what they are ready to learn. The math tests measure students' grade level math skills and identify student needs to improve their math skills. |
DIBELS |

Grades K-2 | Timing: Fall, Winter, & Spring |
SWCDS has adopted DIBLES, which provides interim assessments that are administered three times a year to determine what students know and what they are ready to learn. The tests measure students' skills related to reading outcomes and individual student development. |
